Solace of Spirits

RESCUE ME

Picture
Equine suffering is at an all time high with the economic issues today. Many horse owners cannot afford to keep their horses due to tighter budgets or even worse loss of employment. Solace of Spirits believes that if we come together we can make a difference in the unwanted horse population. Hopefully owners will realize they can no longer keep their horses before they are subjected to neglect. Often people just don't care and the animals end up in the condition of the horse pictured above (Quigley). Through education about responsible breeding and care we can make a difference. There are many groups and organizations around the world that are doing what they can to bring awareness and we are glad to join them in the cause.

ABOUT US
Solace of Spirits (SOS) is a private organization dedicated to helping horses in need. Our nonprofit status will be filied at the end of the year and will be in force for 2012. The goal is to become a high-class operation that is rescuing, rehabilitating, and placing many horses in permanent homes each year. Many people in our lives are sacrificing to ensure that this goal becomes a reality. The challenge presented to the people that are caring for the animals and promoting the cause can be overwhelming at times but we all see the need. The beginnings are humble with a small number of horses that have been abused or have special needs being taken in, if there is a place for them. Unfortunately, some have to be turned away. We need your help to save as many as we can. All funds have been from our own pocket the past year and the expenses are growing with the addition of each horse in need. The economy has left many casualties and the horse is one of them.

Another goal of the organization is to provide education and experience to those who love the horse. The rescue horses can give back by being the interesting and therapeutic animals they were born as. Many people can benefit by opening their lives to the spirit of the horse. I can remember as a child wanting nothing more than to be around horses and later in adulthood wanting nothing more than to have horses back into my life. SOS wants to allow adults and children to experience this through clinics, volunteer opportunities, and workshops. These programs are part of the goal SOS is working toward with your help and support.
